BizTown is a simulated economy where students discover the real-life opportunities available in the free enterprise system as personal consumers and business operators. Junior Achievement has developed a 18 week curriculum covering basic economic principles, personal finance, preparation for a job interview, and how teamwork translates to a business setting.
BizTown combines in class learning with a day long visit to a simulated town. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in the classroom and the real world.
As business operators, students will operate banks, provide customer service, ensure postal delivery, develop advertising, and more!
As consumers, students will learn to deposit a payroll check, write personal checks, use a debit card wisely, and manage a check register.
Students will participate in a reflective assessment of their accomplishments after the trip to BizTown.
