Class Description:
The cost is $250.00 per semester plus a $20.00 lab fee.
Chemistry will be an in-depth introduction to the major concepts in the study of matter and the changes it undergoes. Topics introduced will include significant figures, units, classification, the mole concept, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, the gas laws, and equilibrium. Students will explore these topics through study, lecture and laboratory participation.
Students will complete a wide variety of assignments including in-class note taking, reading and completion of comprehension questions, completing in-class and at home labs and model building, study of and implementation of the scientific method and laboratory write-up procedures, tests and semester exams.
