German is a fascinating language to learn and incredibly useful in the business and medical fields. Studies have also shown that students who take at least two years of high school German score an average of 100 points higher on the verbal sections of the SAT and ACT standardized tests, as German grammar is similar to English; thus American students often learn more about their own language.
Students will learn the fundamentals of German vocabulary and grammar with an emphasis on conversational German through dialogues with each other and with the instructor. Coursework will focus heavily on basic vocabulary in the first semester with daily quizzes and homework. In the second semester we will shift to more complex grammar and writing short dialogues and essays.
