Physics will be an in-depth introduction to the major concepts of the “fundamental science” of physics. Topics introduced include force and motion, Newton’s Laws, work and energy, and basic circuitry. Students will explore these topics through study, lecture, and laboratory participation.
Confidence with algebra and basic trigonometry are expected. Additionally, students should be comfortable with maneuvering the metric system, converting units, making measurements, and reporting in significant figures.
Students will complete a wide variety of assignments including in-class note taking, reading and completion of comprehension questions, completing in-class and at-home labs, model building, study of and implementation of the scientific method, laboratory write-up procedures, tests, and semester exams.
